Mirth of Forth Comedy has been running regular comedy events for over 9 years, since our first one in April 2010*. It was initially set up and run by Burntisland (Fife) residents Richard Pulsford and Mark Kisby with the aim of bringing quality stand-up comedy to their home town, as well as encouraging any latent local talent.
With our first regular events in the town at The Star pub, we started running regular curry and comedy nights at Potter About bistro, and then we got involved in running comedy events for Burntisland Civic Week. That soon led to us expanding beyond Burntisland, organising and running regular gigs in Kinghorn and Kirkcaldy, then Falkland and Leven.
After several years we now have a wealth of experience from organising nearly 300 different events. We have run events for many and varied charities and organisations, in pubs and restaurants, and at many local festivals.
We book the comedians and run the comedy at regular Rotary Club curry and comedy events in Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline.
We have run shows in many different local pubs and festivals, including Burntisland Civic Week, The Crail Food Festival and The Culross Festival, as well as at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe every year since 2010 and The Glasgow Comedy Festival every year since 2013.
The biggest event we have been involved in is the annual Aberdour Festival where we have helped organise the main comedy event since 2014, booking Gary Delaney, Craig Hill, Patrick Monahan, Ray Bradshaw and Simon Evans as the headliners.
And one of our proudest moments was being nominated for Best Regional Comedy Club at the inaugural Scottish Comedy Awards in 2014 when we still had a ‘residency’ at a regular venue.
Richard Pulsford has run shows in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2011, and 2013 to 2019), including solo shows at The Beehive Inn since 2015, and at the Glasgow Comedy Festival (2013 to 2019), as well as Fringe Festivals all over the UK and in the Czech Republic.
Richard has been a Burntisland resident for over 13 years, and has been performing stand-up for even longer. He performs regularly across Scotland and the north of England. Richard books the comedians for the Mirth of Forth Comedy shows. He can also turn out a very funny 50 minute set of one-liners. Mark Kisby provides and sometimes sets up the staging, lighting and sound for the Mirth of Forth Comedy shows, under the sponsorship of his company, AV Department Ltd, based in Dalgety Bay. For further details see: http://www.avdept.co.uk/ Contact: 01383-825709.
* Although technically we go back further than that, as we had a one-off gig way back in the Autumn of 2007 at The Sands Hotel. We remember an (even more) youthful Daniel Sloss was in the audience that night. Wonder what he’s doing now?!
